Commission a Sculpture

Thank you so much for visiting Eddie's Mind and for taking an interest in my sculptures.   It is your interest and enthusiasm for my work that keeps me inspired.

All of my rolling ball sculptures are sold through commission, so please contact me if you would like more information.  If you have an idea in mind of where you would like to see a sculpture, I can help you see your vision come to life.  And as you can see from my previous works, ANY location is a possibility; so don’t hold back on your creativity.

The sculptures seen in this website offer only a glimpse of what is possible. I am constantly developing new ideas and continually working on new and exciting sculptures. If you have a special desire to see the ball perform a stunt or convey a concept, let me know and I'll share with you how I would accomplish the feat.  Imagine a Logo Lift supplying balls to a track that plays a company jingle. Or, how about a sculpture built into the wall of a front entrance that acts as a doorbell. With a little creative vision, applications of the rolling ball sculpture can be found everywhere.

For businesses, a rolling ball sculpture is a great tool for customer relations, brand imaging, and marketing.  A ball sculpture can welcome clients into corporate headquarters, or act as a distraction in a waiting area.   A ball sculpture can be part of an effort to communicate your company's brand and differentiate it from competitors.   A ball sculpture could become part of a marketing campaign to raise awareness for your product; maybe even reaching viral status.  Ball sculptures are a perfect way to drive traffic to booths at trade shows and fairs.   Whatever your desire, with creative thought and open communication, we can develop a sculpture to fit your needs.

Another creative use for rolling ball sculptures is in the explanation of systems or processes.  Applications can range from product manufacturing and food processing, to biological systems and engineering processes.  For instance,  the process of making baked beans was represented in Bush's Bean Adventure, using fun interactions and mechanical representations.   Systems such as the water cycle and data processing have been represented in The Extreme Water Cycle, and The Emulator; each with completely opposite degrees of complexity.   Whatever the process or system you have to communicate to your customers, a fun and informative rolling ball sculpture might be just the right way to connect.

Rolling ball sculptures are also a perfect fit for schools, children's museums, and any STEM-based curriculum.  Placing a sculpture, such as Education in Motion, in a school encourages students to think, investigate, and participate.  Students can be outside observers, or immerse themselves in the action by building modules that insert into, and work with, the sculpture.  Children's museums are also a perfect fit for a rolling ball sculpture.  Not only do they leave a lasting, positive impression on the children and parents who visit, but through interaction and active engagement, kids reinforce their learning experience and often ask for return visits.  With recent emphasis on STEM and STEAM based curriculum, a rolling ball sculpture is a powerful tool to help bridge the gap between the virtual classroom and real-life experiences.

Whatever the goal of your Rolling Ball Sculpture may be, a creative, attractive, and compelling solution can be found. Please contact me with any questions and we can get the ideas rolling.

A Rolling Ball Sculpture concept drawing by Eddie's Mind, Inc.
Rolling ball sculpture concepts can be represented by hand-sketches, flowcharts, or computer generated models.
Concept drawing for The first interaction of Bush's Bean Adventure. Compare this drawing to the finished sculpture!
Concept drawing for a small table-top bouncing sculpture. The falling ball is triggered by the previous ball when it reaches the bottom.
Hand drawing of the proposed central support structure of the BMW Welt Kugelbahn.
A flowchart is commonly used to help determine ball-paths, ball timing, and track element locations.
Concept rendering of the Interactive elements of the kids area at Yo yo's Kid Castle.
Concept drawing for a sculpture that illustrated the process of how a drug goes from discovery all the way to FDA approval.
I superimposed my concept drawing onto a client's provided drawing to communicate how a sculpture could work within their enclosure.
Final version of the concept drawing for the Emulator. The resulting sculpture was very close in appearance to this drawing.
Computer drawing of a track layout incorporating an interactive chain lift and a self-regulating ball release mechanism.
A computer drawing used to illustrate the interactive ball-racing path of the very complicated BMW Welt Kugelbahn.
