About Eddie's Mind, Inc.

Eddie’s Mind, Inc. is a Virginia State Corporation which has been in operation since 2001.  Our mission is to create amazing products that captivate the imagination, inspire creativity, and foster an interest in science, technology, engineering, math, and art (STEM and STEAM).

Eddie’s Mind, Inc. is located in the City of Radford, Virginia, nestled right in the heart of the New River Valley.  Radford is the home of Radford University, home of the Highlanders, and just 10 miles away from Virginia Tech, the home of the Hokies and where everything started.  Between 2008 and 2012, Eddie’s Mind was located in Lafayette, Indiana, and prior to that, in Christiansburg, VA.

About the Artist: Eddie Boes

Eddie Boes seeks to inspire others to think differently about the world around them, and to use their creativity to solve the problems of everyday life.  As a part of a small world-wide community of Rolling Ball Sculpture Kinetic Artists, he balances his love for inspiring young engineers to think creatively with the desire to set the world in motion with his art.

Boes began refining his skills as a Mechanical Engineering student at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. During this time, he honed his problems solving skills by participating in ASME design competitions, and developed his creative and project management skills during internships with Walt Disney Imagineering.  After graduation, he started Eddie’s Mind, Inc. and spent three years as a Mechanical Engineering Instructor at Virginia Tech. 

Boes began his rolling ball sculptures as a student design project in 1999, eventually using the learned skills to start his own studio.  Through the years, as the size and scope of his sculptures have increased, so has the studio.  He now works out of a nearly 5000 square foot shop in Radford, VA.  The shop is not only a fabrication studio for rolling ball sculptures, but also a place for creative invention and product development.

Eddie Boes lives in Blacksburg, Virginia with his wife, daughters and two cats, and honestly believes that he can build anything he can conceive.
